

New Kauffman Foundation Study: Are Women Entrepreneurs Different From Men?

Are there big differences between successful male and female entrepreneurs? According to a new Kauffman Foundation study, there are a few key differences, but more similarities. Based on a survey of 549 company founders, the report shows, for instance, that women entrepreneurs tend to be more concerned about protecting intellectual capital, while their male counterparts worry more about the inherent financial security associated with starting a business. Young Firms Increasingly Relied on External Debt Markets
According to the fifth follow-up report of the Kauffman Firm Survey (KFS), a Kauffman-sponsored study of new businesses founded in 2004 and tracked over their early years of existence, nearly 67 percent of the total amount the firms injected into their businesses in 2008 was from outside debt markets.
